I bought my Cuda locally in 1998. It was originally a FE5 Ralley Red Cuda, 383 4-speed car, built at the Hamtrack Michigan plant. It's build date was February 3, 1970. I didn't get a fendertag with the car, but I did get about half the build sheet. Here are some of the option codes that where on the sheet:

The day I brought the car home. Even though it looked good on the outside, it needed some work. The rear frame rails and trunk floor where gone due to rust. I was just going to repair them, then decided to do the whole car. Four years later, I was able to drive the Cuda for the first time. It was great!!

I am still doing small upgrades to the car. I just got rid of the front drums and installed 11.75" disc brakes. I'm also still looking for a reasonably price front Rubber bumper. (Yeah right!)

The Drivetrain.

I started with a 1971 383 block and had it bored .30 over. I used Keith Black pistons, stock rods, and had it all balanced. I'm using a Hughes HE1423BL camshaft and lifters. The heads are factory 906 castings with a three angle valve job, minor porting, and big valves. On top I used a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and 750 cfm carb. For exhaust, I used Dynomax ceramic coated headers and 2.5" Dynomax Ultra flow race mufflers. This is all backed up by a 18-spline four speed transmission and an 8.75 rear with 3.23 suregrip. I havn't made a pass at the track yet. But I will one of these days.

New Wheels and Tires

I needed a change. I bought some Weld Pro Star wheels for my Cuda. I also went with a larger tire in the back.

Fronts - 15x7 with 3.5" backspacing. 235/60-15 BFGoodrich Radial TA tires.
Rears - 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing. 275/60-15 BFGoodrich Radial TA tires.
